PURPOSE: To allow utilization for effective screening or diagnosis of disease by using the electric potential of a skin surface sampled from many different surface regions of an ailing part known or suspicious of a diesease. CONSTITUTION: Each electric potential is detected by an electrode array 22 in magnetic fields existing on a subject 12 between each of a plurality of points to be measured located on the surface region of a testing part 16 on the subject 12 and at least one standard point on the subject 12. Next, a discriminative analyzer 10 compares respective sampled electric potentials, discriminates ones of high level potential from ones on a low level to obtain a differential value which indicates a difference between electric potentials on a high and a low levels. This differential value is compared with a predetermined standard value and determines its relation to others so that the presence or absence of a diseased state is indicated based on the relation of the differential value to the standard value. As a result, this device is used for screening or diagnosis of state of a disease effectively. Malignant tumors can be accurately identified.
