ESTIMATION OF MOLTEN METAL LEVEL AND SLAG AMOUNT

PURPOSE:To estimate the level of a molten steel and the generating amount of the slag with high accuracy by relatively collecting data on waveforms of temperatures measured while the measured height in said molten steel and in said slag floating on the surface of said molten steel is changed and data on the measuring heights, and subjecting said data to a specific treatment. CONSTITUTION:Data of waveforms of temperatures measured while the measured height in the molten steel and in the slag floating on the surface of the steel is changed and data on the measured heights are collected in relation to each other. Then, the waveforms of the measured temperatures are smoothed, and waveforms obtained by differentiating an order of an even number of the data on the smoothed waveforms are smoothed. Furthermore, a point of inflection is obtained from the maximum and minimum values of the smoothed differentiated waveforms. The levels of the molten metal and slag are presumed from the positional data on the measured height corresponding to the point of inflection, whereby the amount of the slag is estimated.
