PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slag amount estimating method and a slag amount estimating apparatus for molten metal capable of accurately estimating an amount of slag in a molten metal and optimizing an input amount of a desulfurization agent in a desulfurization treatment in a desulfurization facility, and a desulfurization treatment of molten metal and a desulfurization treatment apparatus.SOLUTION: The slag amount estimating method for molten metal to determine an input amount of desulfurization agent in desulfurization treatment includes: an image capturing step in which a first vessel having an upper open portion used as an outlet port is tilted so that the molten metal flows with the slag into a second vessel through the outlet port and an image of the molten metal is captured from above the outlet port; and a slag amount calculating step in which an area of the slag is calculated on the basis of the image of the molten metal captured in the image capturing step and the amount of the slag is calculated contained in the molten metal flowing out from the first vessel to the second vessel according to the area of the slag in each image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
