PURPOSE:To increase the strength of a steel pipe concrete pillar and enhance work efficiency by providing a connection plate common with a bearing plate for closing an opening at the lower end of a steel pipe, and a joint member on the upper end external surface of the steel pipe respectively for connection to pillar bodies. CONSTITUTION:A joint member 5 for connecting a beam 6 is projected from the upper end external surface of a steel pipe 2 having length suitable for the predetermined building height and no projection inside, and a connection plate 10 common with a bearing plate is so fitted to the lower edge of the steel pipe 2 as to close the lower end opening thereof. In addition, the flange 7 of the joint member 5 fitted to the upper end of a lower side pillar body 4 and the disc-shaped connection plate 10 of an upper side pillar body 4 are connected to each other with a bolt 13 and a nut 14. According to the aforesaid construction, applied concrete 3 is maintained at good quality with the elimination of a residual air and a weak part such as a honeycomb part. In addition, it is possible to ensure the transmission of the load of the beam 6 and the upper side pillar body 4 to the inside of the concrete 3.
