USE OF 5-METHYLTETRAHYDRO FOLIC ACID, 5-FORMYL-TETRAHYDRO FOLIC ACID AND/OR SALT THEREOF ALLOWABLE AS PHARMACEUTICALS FOR PREPARATION OF CONTROL RELEASE PHARMACEUTICAL SUITABLE FOR TREATMENT OF DEPRESSION

PURPOSE: To obtain a pharmaceutical composition containing 5-methylor 5- formyl-tetrahydrofolic acid or its salt, suitable for the treatment of grave depression, depressive mood and other unspecified depressive disorder and free from side effect. CONSTITUTION: This controlled-release pharmaceutical composition contains 5-200mg, preferably 10-50mg of 5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid, 5- formyltetrahydrofolic acid and/or their pharmaceutically permissible salts and releases the active component for 15min to 8 hour, preferably 20 to 60 min. The composition is prepared in a form soluble in gastric juice or intestinal juice and suitable for oral administration, a form for injection, a form of rectal suppository or a form for transcutaneous administration. It does not disturb the sleep/awake rhythm, give sedative effect and impart the person with drug- dependency or addiction.
