PURPOSE:To improve the heat transfer performance as well as the performance of a liquid-liquid type heat exchanger and miniaturize the same by a method wherein the ratio of the pitch of fins in the axial direction of a tube to the inner diameter of the tube as well as the width of a spiral groove in the fins at a position corresponding to the 1/2 of the depth of the same are designed so as to be less than specified values. CONSTITUTION:The ratio P/Di of the pitch P of fins 4 in the axial direction of a tube to the inner diameter Di of the tube is designed so as to be less than 1 (one) while the width S of a spiral groove 6, opened to the inside of the tube, at a position corresponding to the 1/2 of the depth of the groove 6 is designed so as to be less than 1mm. When both of the ratio P/Di and the width S of the spiral groove are too small, there is a possibility that the heat transfer performance is rather reduced than improved and, therefore, the ratio P/Di is preferably designed so as to be more than 0.5 while the width S of the groove is desirable to be designed so as to be more than 0.5mm.
