PURPOSE:To prevent the withering of raw tea leaves, to suppress the evaporation of water from the leaves, to maintain the freshness, and to decrease the weight loss of the leaves, by blasting highly humid air from a floor-type air- permeable duct. CONSTITUTION:A cold and humid air is generated in the moistening chamber 1, passed through the wet filter layer 7 to obtain highly humid air having relative humidity of about 90-95%, and sent to the air-permeable duct 10 having air nozzles 9 through the fan 4 and the blasting opening 8. The highly humid air blasted from the nozzle 9 is passed through the layer 11 of tea leaves accumulated on the air-permeable duct 10. The heat of respiration and picking of the tea leaves can be absorbed and proper moistness can be applied to the leaves by this process.
