PURPOSE:To improve the working efficiency of FMS, when machining a work through numeric control machine tool, by previously reading the machining program of following work and selecting the numeric control machine tool such that the waiting time will be minimized. CONSTITUTION:Work machining system FMS is comprised of a plurality of numeric control machine tools MN, work feeder FN for said machine tools MN and a computer C for performing central control. In said system FMS, the machining program PN for following work WN stored in the computer C is read out previously to calculate the residual machining time TRN of work W1 under machining on each machine tool MN and the theoretical machining time TMN of work WN' under waiting on each work feeder FN. Then such machine tool MN that the total time TN will be at the minimum is selected as the numeric control machine tool for following work WN prior to supply of following work WN.
