The device for securing concertina-folded panels, pref. of space-vehicle solar power generators, comprises pairs of metal straps (11, 12) with one end fixed to the outermost panel (18), the other held in a release mechanism (16) mounted on the vehicle. On release they coil around their fixed end. The fixing is a cross-head (13) with a turning mechanism for spindles (14, 15) projecting either side. Loops on the straps fit tightly over these so that turning the spindles tightens the straps. Their other ends are linked by a bolt (17), the free length between entering the release mechanism.
