PURPOSE:To realize reduction in the number of parts, in a cross body connecting right and left swing-arm pipes, by bending in a U-shape one of two plane-shaped members having elbow parts at the front and rear of right and left connecting parts respectively, so as to be welded to each other. CONSTITUTION:In a cross body 1 whose both end peripheries are to be joined to the inside surfaces of right and left swing arm pipes 2, 3 by butting and fillet-welding, the front and rear parts for connecting respective pipes 2, 3 are made in plane-shaped elbow parts 1''' respectively, and an upper member 1', in which the upper and side surfaces are formed in an inversed U-shape in section by press-working a rolled plate, is provided. Further, a flat-plate shaped bottom member 1'' whose bottom surface is cut in a plane shape is provided, and the desired cross body 1 is constituted by integrally welding the joining part of these members 1' and 1''. And on the end of each of the swing arm pipes 2, 3, a pipe 4 for the swing arm pivot is welded, and on the underside of the cross body 1, a swing-arm suspension support member 5 is welded.
