PURPOSE:To enable efficient text editing by arithmetically processing at least two electric signals which indicate the position of the original and displaying the same on a composite image viewing device. CONSTITUTION:Two sliders SL1 and SL2 which slide along the side edge of the original platen are provided on the resistor R in the composite information recorder and are beforehand matched to the width of the original. The voltage between the slider SL1 and one end N of the resistor R is the position information signal which indicates one end edge of the original and is amplified A1. The voltage between the slider SL2 and one end N indicates the other end edge of the original and is put into an amplifier A2. The outputs of the amplifiers A1, A2 are put into A/D converters AD1, AD2 and the digital quantities thus obtained are supplied to a multiplexer M and are provided there, thence they are displayed as the boundaries P1, P2 of the region of the original image.
