PURPOSE:To increase both the hydrogen gas absorbing ability and the electrode capacity by the following process: Specified amounts of powder of fluorine resin and powder of hydrogen storage alloy relative to the weight of an electrode are mixed under the influence of shearing stress to make a cotton-like mixture which is placed on an electricity collector and formed. CONSTITUTION:When powder of hydrogen storage alloy and a specified amount of powder of fluorine resin are mixed together by means of a mixer such as a cutter mill under the influence of shearing stress, an aggregate of single strands is produced in which the fluorine resin powder has turned into slender single strands intertwined in a condition of cotton. The slender single strands are intertwined in a cotton-like condition to the extent that the alloy powder does not fall off. As a result, a cotton- like mixture is obtained by mixing the hydrogen storage alloy powder and the fluorine resin powder under the shearing stress, with the mixture comprising the aggregate of the strand-like fluorine resin and the alloy powder retained in the aggregate. This mixture is placed on a collector as an electricity conducting base body and formed to obtain an electrode. The amount of the fluorine resin powder to be added herein is ranged within 0.5-5.0% of the weight of the electrode.
