NEW MATERIAL:An Amide dericative of AI-77 expressed by formula I (Y is NHR4 or together with Z forms a direct bond of C with C; Z is H or together with Y forms a direct bond of C with C; R1, R2 and R4 are H, R', -CH2R or -COR; R3 is H, R or -CH2R; R is 1-17C aliphatic group, 6-10C aromatic group, 1-9C heterocyclic hydrocarbon agroup, etc.) and a salt thereof. EXAMPLE:The compound of formula II (R1, R2, R4 and R3 are all H). USE:An antiulcer agent. PROCESS:The compound of formula I is derived from a compound of formula III, IV or V. The compound of formula II is obtained by cultivating AI-77 strain (FERM- P No.4066) which is identified as a microorganism belonging to Bacillus pumilus isolated newly from soil by the present inventors, in a culture medium, and collecting from the culture fluid. The compounds of formulas III and IV can be chemically derived from the compound of formula X.
