PURPOSE:To obtain an agent for modifying the surface of concrete and having excellent effect in improving the water-proofness, gloss, adhesivity of organic paint, etc., by adding an N-long-chain acyl amino acid (or its water-soluble salt) as an active component to an aqueous liquid. CONSTITUTION:The objective agent for modifying the surface of concrete can be produced by adding an N-long-chain acyl amino acid or its water-soluble salt as an active component to an aqueous liquid. The N-long-chain acyl amino acid is preferably monoamino dicarboxylic acid (e.g., N-stearoylglutamic acid or N-lauroylaspartic acid). The surface of concrete is modified by applying an aqueous liquid containing the N-long-chain acyl amino acid (or its water-soluble salt) as an active component and preferably further applying an aqueous liquid containing a metal ion (e.g., Al ion) forming a water-insoluble salt with the N-long-chain acyl amino acid.
