PURPOSE:To make the determination of infinitesimal ammoniacal nitrogen and total nitrogen possible accurately and quickly, by providing a reaction part for reducing a sample to NH3, a removing part of acidic gas in reaction substance, a distillation part for removing a large part of moisture and for distilling NH3 and a coulometric titration part of NH3. CONSTITUTION:Sample water is poured from a sample introducing opening 4 of a reaction part of a measuring part 1 and gaseous H2 is sent from a pipe 26 and then, all nitrogen compounds are reduced to NH3 by a reaction tube 25 at the determination of infinitesimal ammoniacal N and total N in water. Next, acidic components in produced gas are removed by an acidic gas removing part 22 packed with solid alkaline substances. Both parts 25, 22 are heated by each heater 24, 21. Moisture-containing gaseous NH3 from the part 22 is sent to a distillation part 2 and a part of the moisture in the gas is absorbed to an alkaline solution in a distillation vessel 12 and then, a large part of the moisture is removed by a reflux condenser 6. Further, the gaseous NH3 is sent to an elecctrolytic bath 19 and is absorbed to an electrolytic solution of 1% aqueous Na2SO4 solution and then, coulometric titration is carried out. Result of the titration is displayed on a controller 7. Thus, one sample is measured in about 6-8min by using 5mul-5ml sample water and NH3 is determined accurately down to 0.005ppm infinitesimal quantity.
