PURPOSE: To separate a desired NMR signal component from NMR signal component not from a metabolite by applying a polarized magnetic field to an interested area, and then applying third RF excitation magnetic field pulse so that magnetization in horizontal/vertical direction is caused. CONSTITUTION: An interference signal is selectively suppressed so that an NMR (nuclear magnetism resonance) signal showing in vivo proton spectrum of a metabolite in natural concentration. At this time, the interested area is applied with a polarized magnetic field, then RF excitation magnetic field pulse is applied, so that magnetization in the horizontal direction is caused. Then, after the first period which is a function of spin-spin coupling constant of molecule of the metabolite, the second RF excitation magnetic field pulse is applied, so that magnetization in the vertical direction is caused. Then, after the second period which is a function of zero quantum modulation frequency of molecure of the metabolite, the third RF excitation magnetic field pulse is applied so that magnetization in the horizontal direction is restored. The resulting echo NMR signal is corrected, and the above process is repeated with a series of different values for the second period, so that 2-dimension array is generated.
