PURPOSE:To receive a signal in a wide frequency range to perform measurement by dividing the frequency of an input signal and selecting a frequency from the frequency of the input signal and divided frequencies. CONSTITUTION:A switching circuit 2 for switching between the input signal and outputs of a frequency divider 1, plural comparing parts 3 which compare the period of the input signal or that of the output of the switching circuit with a reference period, and a switching control part 4 which controls the switching circuit 2 based on plural comparison results are provided after the frequency divider 1 which divides the frequency of the input signal. That is, the frequency of the input signal is divided, and the frequency which can be compared in comparing parts 3 is selected from the frequency of the input signal and divided frequencies and is compared. Thus, the frequency range where the frequency of the input signal exists is detected.
