摘要

PURPOSE:To impart a solid surface with both water and oil repellency and lubricity by coating said surface with a surface-modifying material made up of a fluoroalkyl ether compound having a specific structural formula and an organic material. CONSTITUTION:A surface-modifying material comprising (1) an amide linkage- contg. fluoroalkyl ether compound of formula I [Rf is of formula II or III (n is 1-50; x is group of formula IV, etc.; y is group of formula V, etc.); m is 1 or 2] and (2) an organic material (e.g., phenolic resin) is coated with a solid surface to separate and orient the fluoroalkyl ether chain on the resultant coating film and to embed and immobilize the fluorine atom-free organic group within said film, thus accomplishing the objective modification. This modification method can suitably be applied for the lubricating protective layer of magnetic recording media, organic protective film on the electrically conductive substrate for electrophotography photosensitive substances, etc.
