PURPOSE:To heighten the speed of handling by a grasper for transferring a strip- shaped plated article such as IC lead frame, by fitting a pair of slide bars with a pair of grasping units provided with bent lower portions and by moving the slide bars to and away from each other to open and close the grasping units. CONSTITUTION:When a grasper has reached a position over a conveyor roler, even and odd-numbered rows of slide bars 3A, 3B are moved right and left in the opposite directions to each other through bridge arms 8 and pressure cylinders not shown in the drawing. Consequently, the right and left members 4A, 4B of grasping units 4 and moved away from each other so that the grasping units are opened. The grasper is then moved down as a whole so that lower bent portions are located on the bottoms of plated articles. The slide bars 3A, 3B are thereafter moved to each other to grab the plated articles. The grasper is then elevated and moved. A damper 5 is automatically opened and closed by the descent and ascent of the grasper to correct the position of L-grasping. According to this constitution, the speed of handling is heightened.
