PURPOSE: To improve impact resistance and toughness by reinforcing a continuous fiber with a specified matrix resin product. ;CONSTITUTION: Ninety nine seventy five wt.% mixture of 100 Pbw of an epoxy resin, 10-200 Pbw of a thermally reactive aromatic oligomer having a number average molecular weight of 1,000 or more (e.g. P-aminophenol), and 6-150 Pbw of a diamine hardener (e.g. 4,4'-diaminodiphenylether) is blended with 1-25 wt.% of one or two or more cross-linked carboxylated rubbers having 0.1-5 wt.% carboxyl functional valency which are selected from among carboxylated diene rubber and carboxylated acryl rubber having a glass transition temperature of about 15°C and a particle size of 1-75 μm to provide a matrix resin product. The product is impregnated in a tape-like or cloth-like matter consisting of a continuous fiber having a tensile strength of 100 kpsi or more, a tensile elasticity of 2,000,000 psi or more and a decomposing temperature of 200°C or higher.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
