INDUCTIVELY-COUPLED PLASMA MASS SPECTROMETRIC APPARATUS

PURPOSE:To prevent cations from being detected as background spectra and to enhance the accuracy of analysis by disposing a cation column which removes the cation between constant flow rate pumps and a sampling valve. CONSTITUTION:The cation column 9 which removes cations is provided between the constant flow rate pumps 2, 7 and the sampling valve 3. The carrier soln. in a carrier soln. tank 6 is sent through a pump 7 the column 9 a 5th connecting port 3e of the sampling value 3 a 4th connecting port 3d to a nebulizer 8' when the pump 7 is driven. The cations contained in the carrier soln. and the cations eluted from the wetting members of the pump 7 are removed during the passage through the column 9 and are prevented from arriving at the nebulizer 8'. Such a phenomenon that the cations contained in the carrier soln. and the cations eluted from the wetting members of the pump 7 are detected as the background spectra and that the degradation of the lower detection limit of the elements to be measured is degraded to degrade the accuracy of measurement is obviated.
