SOLUTION COPOLYMER, QUICK SETTING BINDER FOR CELLULOSE CONTAINING THE SAME AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE: To obtain a fast-curing binder for cellulose by mixing a specified amt. of a soln. copolymer of olefinically unsatd. compd. and olefinically unsatd. carboxylic acid amide in latex. CONSTITUTION: The soln. copolymer is obtd. by the reaction of a first water-soluble comonomer comprising one or two kinds of olefinically unsatd. compds. expressed by formula I and a second water-soluble comonomer comprising one or two kinds of olefinically unsatd. carboxylic acid amides expressed by formula II. The obtd. soln. copolymer is mixed by 2 to 20 wt.% in a latex carrier such as (carboxylated) styrene-butadiene copolymer and vinylacetate-vinyl acrylate copolymer. Reactive monomers which do not release formaldehyde are compounded by 0.5 to 15 wt.% into the latex. In formula I, R1 to R3 are each H, halogen, NO2 , NH2 or an org. group; R4 is H is an org. group; X is an org. group or covalent bond. In formula II, R5 to R7 are each same as R1 to R3 ; R8 and R9 are each same as R4 ; Y is same as X.
