Extrusion lubricants for poly (vinyl halide) resins are provided which comprise a mixture of: (a) hydrocarbon wax; and (b) Group II metal or lead salt of a fatty acid in relative amounts sufficient to produce a composition having a viscosity in ecess of about 10,000 cps at 125 DEG C; and (c) an organic mercaptan capable of reducing the viscosity of said mixture in an amount at least sufficient to reduce the viscosity of said mixture below about 10,000 cps at 125 DEG C. i
