NEW MATERIAL:A monoclonal antibody specific to N-glycolyl type GM2. USE:Serumdiagnostic agent and immunological therapeutic agent for rheumatoid arthritis and cancers. PREPARATION:For example, BALB/c mouse from which neonatal thymus has been excised is immunized with, as an antigen, a synthetic glycolipid N-glycoyl type GM3 having a similar structure to N-glycolyl type GM2, the spleen is excised after the final immunization to collect spleen B lymphocytes. The B lymphocytes are fused with myeloma cells, cultured in the HAT medium to form hybridoma. Then, the clone producing an antibody specific to N-glycolyl type GM2 is selected and cloned by means of the limiting dilution. Finally. the monoclonal hybridoma is cultured to produce the monoclonal antibody.
