The continuous belt (3) of sanding material runs around a drive roller (1) and a tensioning roller (2). Inside the sanding belt (3) is an auxiliary support belt (6). The support belt is supported by a tensioning roller (5) and a drive roller (4). Pressure on the auxiliary support belt is maintained by adjustable slide shoes (7a, 7b), via a strip of fabric (8) impregnated with graphite. The graphite strip is fixed at one end and pulled tight by a spring (11) at the other end.
