The alignment device consists of three identical light sensors (5) mounted at 120 deg. intervals around a supporting ring (1). The sensors are positioned so that their effective centres lie on the expected beam circumference. When the centre of the beam coincides with the centre (3) of the support ring, the sensors have equal outputs as they detect the edges (6) of the Gaussian curve (4). @(10pp Dwg.No.1/1)@.
