Controlling uniformity of emulsion thickness - using line-scan camera to supply personal computer forming fault detecting and strip feed protocol

An aluminium strip is fed from a supply roller to a take-up roller. The strip passes below a fluorescent tube with a focussing lens. The light from the tube forms a thin line across the width of the strip. A line-scan video camera scans across the thin line. The output of the camera is fed to a signal processor which determines the depth of the emulsion layer on top of the aluminium strip. This application differs from NL8900110 in that a personal computer is used as the processor and forms a fault detecting and strip feed protocol.
