Coupling system for optical cables - presents individual fibres as ring at interface with coupling flange

A coupling arrangement for optical systems and esp. for the junction of a fibre optic cable and a tubular mixer. The fibre bundle (20) is brought into a short tubular sleeve (11) which has a terminating and coupling flange (12) and a section (13) carrying one side of the fibre-mixer interface protruding from the front of the flange. Individual fibres are separated within the tube and presented as a ring of fibres at the interface. The bundle is secured at its entry by a sleeve (21) to which it is glued and at the coupling interface by an annulus (14) around the fibres and a centre spacing plug (15) to which the fibres are again glued.
