Procedure for obtaining 1,1-bis(4-chlorophenyl)-2,2,2- trichloroethanol from industrial 1,1-bis(chlorophenyl)- 2,2,2-trichloroethanol, also called industrial dicofol, based on the formation of an addition compound between 1,1-bis(4-chlorophenyl)-2,2,2-trichloroethanol and dimethylsulphoxide, isolation of said addition compound and subsequent decomposition thereof. The procedure allows a product to be obtained with p,p'- dicofol contents higher than 98.0%. Dicofol is an acaricide widely used for agricultural purposes on cotton crops and fruit trees, especially citrus fruit trees.
