The comparison is made by making both machines work independently: as refrigeration machine, heat pump and thermal amplifier. The evaporator of the mechanical compression machine and of the absorption machine are connected to a refrigeration chamber where temperatures which can vary between 0 and 25 degree C are achieved. The condenser of the mechanical compression machine and the condenser/absorber of the absorption machine are connected to a tank where condensation temperatures of between 30 and 50 degree C are simulated. The temperature of this tank is regulated by removing heat by means of a cooling tower. A system of measurements makes it possible to ascertain the process flow and temperatures. On the basis of these variables, the refrigeration effect coefficient, the COP of the heat pump and, by adding these together, the performance as thermal amplifier are determined. IMAGE
