This device comprises a frame (1) carrying an arm (8) mounted about a shaft (5) and pressed elastically towards the fabric (T) by a spring (11) intended to bring a pinion (16) into engagement with this fabric (T). A shaft (15) carries a barrel drum (19) engaging with a pinion (17) integrally connected to the pinion (16), and enclosing a spring (20). This barrel is connected to a terminal (24*) by a contact finger (24) and carries a pin (23) which penetrates into a groove (33), shaped in an arc of a circle, of a drum (29), passing through an opening (27), shaped in an arc of a circle, of a plate (25). A contact element is arranged at one end of the groove (33) of the opening (27), the pin (23) being capable of being displaced from one of these contact elements to the other.
