A feed drive for machine tool slides having a rotatory drive, a threaded spindle (12) and a spindle nut (10) is proposed which is of particularly compact construction and thereby gains in rigidity. To this end, the guideways (3), the threaded spindle (12) and the axis of the motor (20) are arranged parallel to one another, and the drive gear (16) of a gear train of the motor (20) is arranged on the threaded spindle (12) between the fixed bearing (13) and the spindle nut (10).
