Sulfonates from alkenylborates or alkenyl(poly)alkylene glycol ether borates, their preparation and use

Sulphonates of alkenyl borates or alkenyl(poly)alkylene glycol ether borates, obtainable by sulphonation of boric acid esters of the general formula I [R1O-(CmH2mO)n]pB(OH)q (I in which R1O denotes the radical of a fatty alcohol having 16 to 22 carbon atoms and at least one olefinic double bond, m denotes the numbers 2 and/or 3, n denotes a number in the range from 0 to 20, p denotes the numbers 1, 2 or 3 and q denotes the numbers 0, 1 or 2 where the relationship p + q = 3 applies, and subsequent neutralisation and hydrolysis of the sulphonation products using bases, have interesting surface-active properties and are useful intermediates for the preparation of fatty alcohol sulphonates.
