The invention concerns new silver and tin-oxide based materials for use in making electrical contacts, together with the electrical contacts made with the materials. The novel materials contain from 9 to 13% by weight of tin oxide and 0.02 to 5% by weight of tellurium oxide. The accumulated content by weight of metallic oxides, excluding the tellurium oxide, is at most equal to 15%, the balance being silver. Application to the manufacture of electrical apparatus.
