In a frame (1) running on forward and rearward sets of three uniformly-spaced rollers (2) along the internal surface (3) of the pipe, a housing (6) is rotatable about the axis with a video camera (7) and a counterwt (15) such that the camera does not deviate from a vertical attitude when the frame (1) departs from a straight course. Moisture on the internal surface (3) is dispelled by a hot-air blower (12). A rotary current collector (16) is connected to the power supply cable (9), and video signals are conveyed by coaxial cable (8) to an external monitor.
