The hearing aid has a number of trimmer elements (43, 44) for different hearing aid functions are necessible via openings in the hearing aid housing, each of which is fitted with a different cover (66). The latter has coded contact elements (67, 68) providing a different contact combination when the cover is fitted in position, in dependence on the trimmer function. Pref. the contact elements (67, 68) have different numbers of contact tongues providing the different function codings. Each cover (66) pref. has an identification marking in dependence on the function coding. ADVANTAGE - Simple adaption for different applications.
