A large amount of storage is necessary for this purpose. The object of the invention is to provide an edge profile for various covering thicknesses. This object is achieved by an edge profile (300), in the case of which a covering element (3'') is provided with a foot (35) which is plugged over a plugging part (36) arranged between the wings (9, 9') of a carrier element (2''), with the result that the distance between covering element (3'') and carrier element (2'') can be changed.
