In view of the soiling which repeatedly occurs during practical operation as a result of dust and abrasion, a suspension for brake block units on rail vehicles with transversely displaceable wheel sets is to be provided, which suspension consists of the most simple elements possible and is insensitive to soiling in the long term. For this purpose, the brake block unit (1) is suspended on suspension clips (2) which can be displaced transversely and can oscillate transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and can oscillate in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, the block force which acts in the longitudinal direction being transmitted from the suspension clips (2) to the frame (3) of the vehicle with shackles (10, 12) which engage one in the other.
