A method is provided of remedying weakness of tissue, in particular softening of tissue, caused by an excess of nitrogen, in which the metabolic processes in the plants are promoted and nitrogen compounds which are stored in the plant, not available to metabolic processes and causing weakening of the tissue structure are subjected to rapid degradation by feeding the plants CO2 and H2CO3 in an aqueous phase while eliminating the acidic SO2 compounds, which adversely affect photosynthesis.
