The invention relates to a propulsion system for shallow-draught vessels, with water-jet propulsion for driving and steering, which has a pump arranged in or on the hull and mounted in a housing pivotable about a vertical axis (20) and draws in the water delivered by it at the bottom of the vessel and discharges it again in the form of a water jet coming out again essentially horizontally during the propulsion of the vessel.
