Process and apparatus for obtaining fats and oils, on the one hand, and coarse meal directly suitable as animal feed, on the other hand, from soya beans

Process for obtaining vegetable oils and fats, in particular from soya beans, by extraction with organic solvents to produce an oil-containing solvent phase (MIC) and a virtually oil-free extraction residue (coarse meal; R). The coarse meal is freed of solvent, toasted and dried. The toasting is carried out before the extraction and before the so-called flocculation on smooth rollers, in combination with the thermal conditioning and adjustment of the water content of the beans, which have been only roughly broken, in particular merely halved, continuously in a system (according to P 3815726.8) which has a plurality "n" of bed units which are arranged vertically above one another and each of which is terminated at the bottom by gas-permeable plates. At the top, the raw material is heated by an air/steam mixture in conjunction with indirect floor heating to temperatures between about 60 and 90@C. The material is then brought with hot air to a temperature of about 100-120@C, and is finally dried and/or cooled in a third number of bed units with virtually dry air or an excess of air as reaction medium containing treatment gas. The material is kept in a fluidised state throughout the course of the reaction, i.e. from entry into the system until leaving it. IMAGE
