Method for the deformational monitoring of a soil and/or construction, a deformation-induced measured variable being measured at at least one geometrical location of the soil or of the construction and the measured variable being detected and displayed electrotechnically or optically. At the geometrical location, a housing having an essentially vertical axis is installed and fixed, and is filled with a liquid. A floating sensor, which floats in the liquid and is surrounded by the housing, is arranged in the housing on an anchor thread which is fastened in the region of the deepest part of the housing.
