The bed according to the invention is to be designed in such a way that the space requirement is not increased even in an inclined position of the horizontal part, that the get-in height is comparatively low and that the adjustment path is correspondingly large for adjustment into a height suitable for nursing purposes. In the bed according to the invention the horizontal element is placed on a flat support part which can be adjusted by a lifting device which can exclusively be displaced in the vertical direction, so that the support frame can be pivoted at least about a horizontal axis. In order to permit this pivoting movement the support frame is provided with a device for balancing out the length. The bed according to the invention is particularly suitable as a nursing bed. Its special advantage results from the fact that it can be combined with a conventional bed and that its appearance does not differ from the latter. IMAGE
