The hydraulic single-pipe gas pressure shock absorber consists of a pressure-valve piece (8) with two facing packing cones supported by the top (5a) or bottom (5b) sealing edge of a piston (5). The bottom cylindrical end of the pressure-valve piece (8) slides along a lengthwise hole in a piston rod (4) and has a choke bore. A free piston (7) with an elastic seal slides along the piston rod's (4) lengthwise hole and has an underside from which pressure is released by means of a hole (4b) in the piston rod (4). The free piston (7) rests on a compression spring (7a) maintaining the balance with the gas or liquid pressure in the shock absorber, with a retardation caused by the choke position in the pressure valve piece (8). USE/ADVANTAGE - The damping force is measured by the change in the gas pressure of the shock absorber or the path of the separating piston.
