The line generator (3,8) is provided with a hollow armature shaft (7) through which the propeller shaft (2) is led coaxially. The generator is arranged with independent foundations, and the armature shaft is kinematically coupled to the propeller shaft (2) by means of a drive unit (6). At least one coupling element pref. a driven pinion (13) of the drive unit (6) is located coaxial to the propeller shaft and if required a constant speed unit is provided for r.p.m. compensation. The drive unit (6) can include a high duty stage (12) mounted on the propeller shaft (2), an intermediate drive (20), a cumulative drive (10), a high duty stage with a constant speed compensation drive (14), a superimposed drive (15) with r.p.m. compensation or a superimposed drive (17) with r.p.m. compensation and integrated connection for a working turbine (18). USE/ADVANTAGE - Shipboard power generation. Requires small amt. of space compared with conventional installation. Gives high efficiency. Propeller shaft deflection does not affect smaller designed air gap.
