A laminated foam material (A) with excellent frictional properties is produced by coating a backing fabric with a natural or synthetic latex layer. Gelation of the skin, which is of higher density than the foam structure is mechanically removed to reveal the softer foam below. The foam has improved frictional properties compared to the outer skin. USE/ADVANTAGE - (A) is used to produce the inner surface of goalkeeping gloves where good grip is essential especially in damp conditions. The process is independent of foam thickness.
