HEIGHT-ADJUSTABLE HANDLEBAR FITTING FOR SAFETY BELTS OF MOTOR VEHICLES

A height-adjustable deflection fitting for safety belts of motor vehicles has a carriage-like bolt plate, which is guided longitudinally displaceably on an approximately vertical rail held fixed to the vehicle and has a locking device which is held by spring force in one of a plurality of corresponding catches of the rail and can be locked in different positions with a corresponding catch. The deflection fitting is connected to the bolt plate by means of a pin. In order to permit simple and easy adjustment, the rail (2) consists of an elongated flat steel blank which is provided with an approximately central elongated hole-like guide slot (3) with lateral edges (4,5) running longitudinally parallel to one another. An end part (8), which is angled off from the bolt plate (9) held parallel to rail (2), is guided with play in the guide slot (3). At its opposite end the bolt plate (9) is provided with a lateral extension (10) which is bent over in a U-shape and forms the locking device, with which extension said device engages around the bar (6), which points backwards and limits the guide slot (3) of the rail (2). The bar (6) is provided on its outside with cam-like projections (30) which form the corresponding catches and whose distance from one another corresponds approximately to the width of the extension (10).
