Appts.fitted at the bottom of liq. cooled nuclear reactor pressure vessels to collect molten fuel material during a core melt down energency, whereby the trough-shaped container, filled with absorber material stops the nuclear reaction of falling, molten fuel material and terminates any further generation of: heat. Single or multi-part absorber material containers consisting of an alloyed sheet metal and adapted in shape, -dimension and weight, are disposed at the bottom of pressure vessel (1). The capacity of these closed absorber material containers (2) is such, that a safe and sufficiently large quantity of absorber material e.g. boron, cadmium etc. can be contianed. USE/ADVANTAGE - To collect the molten core of a liquid cooled nuclear reactor during a core meltdown emergency, terminating the nuclear reaction. The falling, molten core parks cannot accumulate on the base of the pressure vessel, any nuclear is automatically terminated. Nuclear reaction of the entire reactor core material. The own-weight of the filled absorber material containers suffices a floating upwards of the containers. The shape of the absorber material containers is adapted to eh base resp. lower cylindrical inner wall of the reactor vessel.
