A high temp. seal of 'beater sheet' type comprises laminated moulded bodies obtd. by moulding a slurry contg. (by wt.) 35-80% ceramic inorganic fibres, 2-50% wollastonite, 2-25% organic elastomeric material and 5-35% inorganic binder. USE/ADVANTAGE - The seal is used in automobile engines and the like. It avoids the use of asbestos, while the presence of wollastonite results in improved tensile strength, elasticity, restoring percentage and thermal resistance.
