Using a device in high-rise storage installations or displaceable-rack storage installations having rail systems in the individual rack levels, rack aisles and head ends and having storage and retrieval units and carrier vehicles which can be moved on these rails and are intended for stored goods or pallets, a solution is to be provided, with which, in particular, the commissioning becomes, as far as possible, fully automatic and possible without limitations, waiting and idle times, in particular of the relatively costly robot vehicles or commissioning vehicles, being avoided to as great a degree as possible. This is achieved by means of at least one commissioning vehicle (3), which can be moved on the rail system (2) and by means of a plurality of supply and removal vehicles (4) which can be assigned, at least intermittently, to the said commissioning vehicle (3).
